Shaw looking safe but portfolio under scrutiny

With nominations for the Green Party’s co-leadership closing today, no one has so far put their hand up to challenge James Shaw.
The Climate Change Minister – who has been criticized by party insiders for not pushing the government harder over climate change – failed to get enough votes at the recent AGM to be automatically re-confirmed.
Marama Davidson, who was reconfirmed, says she never takes her position for granted either.
“I’m really grateful for the ongoing support from the party, from the members. I also know the climate change portfolio is one we will more deeply scrutinise as well. Our party is the party that cares the most about climate change,” she says.
James Shaw yesterday released the nation’s first climate adaptation plan.
