Davidson backs Shaw climate record
Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson says James Shaw has made history with the work he has done on climate change.
Mr Shaw’s role as co-leader is up for grabs after he failed to secure the support of the necessary 75 percent of voting delegates at the party’s weekend annual general meeting.
Ms Davidson says no one co-leader will please all supporters, but she has seen the hard work he has put into his portfolio.
“I know he’s absolutely worked his butt off over the years as minister to achieve more than 30 years of successive governments have achieved in climate change – for example having an emissions reduction plan for the first time ever where there are accountable targets is absolutely history-making,” she says.
Ms Davidson says she’s leaving it to the members to decide the leadership, and the spill is part of its commitment to stay accountable to members.
