Lady Kuia Morrison seen off with songs

Rotorua is sending off Lady Kuia Morrison with some of the songs she loved.
The widow of Sir Howard Morrison died on Saturday aged 84.
She has been living with dementia for the past three years.
Her brother-in-law and Rotorua identity Trevor Maxwell say she was welcomed back onto the marae at Ohinemutu yesterday by Te Arawa and Ngāti Whakaue.
“After the karakia was held we sat there and we just okayed some songs she used to love joining in with us, not standing in the front row or anything and looking nice in her own way, with Howie and use, so we sang some songs she loves and we all loved. Sad to see her go this way, no more pain now too,” Mr Maxwell says.
Until her illness Lady Kuia was a familiar sight on the streets of Rotorua showing the walking style that took her as far as walking the New York Marathon.
