Numbers grow at Waipareira Vax to the Max
Waipareira’s Vax to the Max programme is ramping up, with thousands of people having already gone through its facility in a former Noel Leeming store across from Whānau House in Henderson.
Clinical manager Ngaire Harris says while many of the people are the elderly and group three people with disabilities and underlying conditions, for Māori clients it has opened it up to anyone over 16, preferably with whānau.
They’re trying to encourage groups, such as the three vanloads of kaumatua from Wellsford who came down for their shots.
"We've got some kapa haka groups coming through. They're ready to travel overseas. We've got a couple of the sports, teams, it's the Tokyo Olympics or something coming through, and we've got some of the kohanga and kura kaiako, so we've been sending out invites and ringing people to bring their whānau through," Ms Harris says.
To get an appointment people can call 0800 vax 2 max, that’s 0800 82 92 62 9, or if they want to get their jabs elsewhere they should call the ministry’s line 0800 28 29 26.
