Alien Weaponry doco part of factural funding boost
A documentary on the rise of Māori heavy metal band Alien Weaponry has secured $36,000 from NZ On Air’s funding for factual projects.
The 90-minute doco by The Down Low Concept is being made for both theatres and Whakaata Māori.
A documentary showcasing a group of young Māori musicians and their rise to fame, along with the struggles that come from success at a young age.
The Down Low Concept has also been allocated up to $358,000 from the $10.4 million funds for another seven 9-minute episodes of its series looking at key songs from the 30-year history of hip hop in Aotearoa.;
NZ Hip Hop Stand Up will go out on RNZ and The Coconet.TV.
Hi Mama’s offbeat hunting series for Whakaata Māori, Haututū Hunters, will get up to $350,000 for six episodes.
Pango Productions gets another $1.6 million another sea of Match Fit, six episodes of Tawera Nikau and Sir Graham Lowe coaching a team of rugby league greats back in shape to face a Classic Kangaroos team.
