Australian ‘health army” threat to NZ workforce

The Bill is set for final reading today.
Dr Reti says it’s dark and dirty legislation, and his efforts last week to fix it with a supplementary order paper were rejected without debate.
Now the new Australian Government has announced it intends to spend $4.5 billion on a health army.
“Where do you think some of that health army is going to come from? Our resources here in New Zealand. If Australia thinks the answer to their health workforce crisis is our health workforce crisis, we’re going to be challenged with that,” Dr Reti says.
