Family vax split revealed in coming of age doco

A new series of documentaries is looking at growing up in Aotearoa in the new century.
2000s Baby tracks five young people, all born in 2000, as they approach their 21st birthdays.
University of Auckland law student Rawhiti Erstich-Coles from Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Rangi and Ngāti Kuta, who with his twin Ivan features in episode four, says over the eight months of filming the filmmakers were able to capture his struggle to reconnect with his anti-vax whānau after the isolation of Covid-19 lockdowns.
“A lot of people, it’s been a tumultuous and controversial topic on vaccinations and you see get to see it in a different light because it’s coming from a family, a Māori family and you get to see how it impacts our relationships with each other and it is all coming from a lace of love and understanding,” he says.
2000s Baby is streaming now on TVNZ On Demand.
