No support for civilians travelling to Ukraine
The Prime Minister has a warning for New Zealanders considering going to Ukraine to support the war effort.
Jacinda Ardern warns while it is not illegal to travel to Ukraine, there will be no consular support available if anyone finds themselves in difficulty.
The Government is sending a C-130H Hercules and a 50-strong logistics team to Europe to help with efforts to support Ukraine against Russia’s invasion.
It’s also offering $13 million in further support, including a contribution to the United Kingdom to procure weapons and ammunition for use by Ukrainian forces.
Aotearoa New Zealand already has nine intelligence personnel in Europe, and they’ll be joined by eight more.
