Māori focus in flu jab campaign

The winter flu vaccination campaign kicks off tomorrow.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says two million doses of influenza vaccine will be distributed this year, 40 percent more than in previous years.
The campaign will include an extra focus on hapori Māori and vulnerable communities where there has not been a high uptake in the past.
Eligibility for free vaccines will open up to include Māori and Pacific people aged 55 years and over.
The Flu vaccine can be given simultaneously or immediately before or after the Pfizer and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
Health authorities are concerned that because borders have been closed people haven’t been exposed to many of the infections that normally circulate, so baseline immunity is low.
