Covid boost bodes well for Māori Health Authority

The Prime Minister says a $140 million boost for the Māori and Pasifika Covid Response is a pointer to what is possible when the Māori Health Authority steps up later in the year.
The pūtea will help 160 Māori and Pacific health providers scale up their services and cover some of the costs being incurred by whānau ora providers and others who are supporting people who are isolating.
Jacinda Ardern says the providers have done an incredible job through the pandemic.
“These partnerships we are building are already strong. I think they will get stronger and I hope in the future it means we will see services that are by Māori, for Māori addressing some of the critical health needs we have in the country that we have just failed to address well before,” she says.
