The Human Rights Commission is considering the possibility of co-leadership, consistent with its commitment to become a Treaty of Waitangi-based organisation.
Chief Executive Rebecca Elvy is stepping down after almost three years in the role.
Chief Human Rights Commissioner, Paul Hunt, says this is an opportunity to explore the possibility of co-chief executives.
An acting chief executive will be appointed in the interim.
One – or two – permanent appointments are expected around October this year.
