Māori MP urges water safety

Māori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi has launched his own water safety campaign as the death toll for this summer’s water-related incidents hits 30.
Posting on his Facebook page, the Member of Parliament for Waiariki says his thoughts go out to the whānau who are dealing with the loss of loved ones due to drownings.
“Majority are occurring in our rivers with the most recent in our rohe of the Waiariki,” Waititi writes.
“It’s only been one month since summer begun and we have already hit a six-year record.”
As well as posting water safety reminders, Waititi has made available some key links to water resources: www.linktr.ee/RawiriWaititiMP
“Kia mataara whānau, please look out for one another around our water.”
