Learn for your lunch at Papakura Marae men’s day
Papakura Marae is inviting tāne in tomorrow to do something about their health.
Draws include free haircuts, demonstrations of mau rākau and whakairo, and speakers including Māori health and physical education expert Dr Ihirangi Heke.
Marae chief executive Tony Kake says there’s even some cooking lessons for the men.
"Tāne can make the best steam pudding, we'll eat that for lunch later on, putting down a hāngi, but it's all education in a kinaesthetic way – we learn by showing, we learn by demonstrating, getting involved, interactive," he says.
Chur Bro Day starts with a pōwhiri at 9.30am
