Efeso Collins wants to stoke the political ambitions of south Auckland rangatahi.
The Manukau ward councillor is one of the speakers at this weeks Engage Your Future hui-expo at Te Puke O Tara Community Centre in Otara, which aims to connect locals to social services, educational support and employers hit hard by COVID-19.
He says there are opportunities at Auckland council, not just in jobs but in seeking public office.
"Otara-Papatoetoe, South Auckland has a young population so if we have a young population we want to invest in our leaders now so they might think about 'I might go on to be mayor of this city, I could go on to be an MP,' so there are political aspirations these young people might have," Mr Collins says.
