Just a moment for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

Are you ready to be part of the team of one million te reo Māori speakers.
That's the challenge set by Te Taura Whiri, the Māori Language Commission for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
Chair Rawinia Higgins says with the pandemic meaning marches and gala awards dinners are off the agenda, the centrepiece is the Māori Language Moment at noon on September 14.
She wants to get 1 million people celebrating te reo, whether it's singing or playing a waiata, starting lunch with a karakia, pausing to do a te reo Māori quiz or daily quiz in te reo, or media outlets beginning their news bulletin with a Māori greeting.
"By taking a little time out of their day at 12pm just to do something that celebrates our language whether it's in your home or your kura or your work, try to see how many people we can gather together to reach that 1 million people mark," Professor Higgins says.
