Hayes uses delay to tweak policy prescription

While National has slammed Labour for a lack of policy, its own spokespeople are scrambling to write some.
Māori Development spokesperson Jo Hayes says the one-month delay in the election date is a welcome chance to finalise the manifesto.
She says so far the party has focused on its economic and infrastructure announcements, but it is now casting its net wider.
"About a week ago the leader of the campaign said' you can now start sending us some of your policy' so I'm going to be doing that this week around Māori development so I have been doing quite a bit of work on that, reshaped, reset budgets, things like that. Things will change because of the second round of COVID-19 but I don’t expect they’ll change too much," Ms Hayes says.
She is still waiting for a chance to sit down with new leader Judith Collins to discuss the policy.
