COVID response merits Matariki Award
Māori Television has added a new category to its annual Matariki Awards, and will this year acknowledge those who made an outstanding contribution to the community during the Mate Karauna (COVID-19) response.
The finalists are the Northland effort Takahitia Korowira, the Ōtara COVID-19 CBNZ Response Team and the North Island Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency.
Other finalists in the various categories include Rangi Mātāmua, Ani Wainui and Rawiri Wright in the education section: Graham Tipene, Chelsea Winstanley and Shane Cotton for the arts award, and Lady Tureiti Moxon, Dr Lily Fraser and Dr Matire Harwood for their contributions to healthcare and science.
The event will be broadcast live on Māori Television on Saturday, August 15.
