News website Stuff has apologised for using an image of a meeting house on a court report about a police officer allegedly raping a colleague in a Kerikeri motel.
The site said it initially used a stock photo of Te Whare Rūnanga on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds because the officers were assigned to cover last year's Waitangi Day events.
It removed the image last night, but it has been widely shared on social media.
