Role Funding:

Crowdfunding platform PledgeMe has appointed Claire McGowan of Te Arawa as its new chief executive.

Dr McGowan has a PhD in microbiology and has worked in venture capital and finance, including heading business incubator Soda.

Co-founder Anna Guenther says more than 60 percent of Pledgeme’s crowdfunding campaigns were female-led, so it’s exciting the company will continue to have a woman at the helm.

She is also the first Māori CEO of an equity crowdfunding platform.
