Puhara Mana Tangata chance to speak out on injustice
A member of the new Māori advisory panel to the Chief Ombudsman says it’s a chance to highlight injustices against Māori.
Lady Tureiti Moxon says Pūhara Mana Tangata should encourage more Māori to bring complaints to the Ombudsman when they feel they aren’t being treated fairly by government agencies.
The Ombudsman can also instigate investigations into matters of national importance.
She says the institutional racism that prevents Māori from fully participating in health, education, and social well-being needs to be addressed.
