Make burglars work National plan

The National Party has signalled attacks on the poor and the brown are part of its recipe for getting back into power.
Leader Simon Bridges has released a social services discussion document including proposals to block gang members from receiving a benefit if they can’t prove they don’t have illegal assets or income.
Senior MP Judith Collins says it’s fair to take on the gang lifestyle.
"If we can get people who can physically work and are mentally capable of working, that’s a good thing. I guess lots of people like myself would look at some gang members who choose to commit all sorts of offences and say if you’re fit enough to get through a window to burgle a place you’re probably fit enough to do a job," she says.
National would also reimpose sanctions on mothers who don’t reveal the name of their children’s father, and withhold benefits from solo parents who don’t immunise their children.
