Wānanga high flyer on airline board

Air New Zealand has appointed Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi chief financial officer Laurissa Cooney to its board of directors.

Ms Cooney, of Te Āti Haunui a Papārangi descent has previously held senior auditing and consulting roles with Deloitte in New Zealand and Deloitte Touche in London.

Air New Zealand chair Dame Therese Walsh says she will bring a strong regional tourism and iwi perspective to the board, as she is a director of Tourism Bay of Plenty and several iwi affiliated entities around New Zealand.

Ms Cooney will be up for election by shareholders at next year's annual shareholders' meeting.
