Māori are more likely to be stressed over money, and it’s affecting their mental and physical health.

That’s once of the conclusions of research by the Commission for Financial Capability released to support Mental Health Awareness Week.

It says 83 percent of Māori were concerned about money compared to 67 percent of NZ Europeans.

Among Māori, 57 percent suffered stress, 40 percent made unhealthy eating choices and 38 percent did not access health services due to money concerns.
