Māori missing from mayoral policy prescriptions
Tāmaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare says he's still waiting to see what candidates for Auckland Council intend to do for Māori.
Voting papers should arrive in letterboxes over the next few days and need to be returned by noon on October 12.
Mr Henare says the clash between sitting mayor Phil Goff and John Tamihere has generated a lot of ideas and policies about how the city can flourish.
"No more mud slinging. It's now time for the voters to make their decision and the people I have spoken to said they will make their decisions based on the ideas that will solve the issues we have and we know they are traffic, housing, infrastructure, all of those issues that are important to us. If there is one thing I have been disappointed in, I have not seen a strong sense of what it means for Māori here in Tāmaki Makaurau," Mr Henare says.
