Card game to help reo journey

Kiwi board game company Game Kings has turned to crowdfunding to get its latest reo Māori game off the boards.

Director Eliot Jessep says Tākaro is a matching game where players need to find and say the te reo Māori translation of the symbol on the card.

He wants to deliver the game in Māori language Week in September, so he’s offering a buy one give one option on Kickstarter to allow contributors to give packs to Kiwi schools.

He says by the end of a game, players will be able to recall a number of the symbols and their corresponding translations, allowing them to more confidently use te reo in everyday conversations
