Megastrike aims to break miscommunication
The head of the Principal’s Federation hopes today’s megastrike will be enough to move the Government.
Teachers from primary and secondary schools and Wharekura will take the day off, and further industrial aciton has been signalled.
Whetu Cormick says teachers are aware of the inconvenience the action will cause whānau, but whānau also support teachers getting improvements in wages and workload.
He says Education minister Chris Hipkins says he values teachers but that’s not been shown in the offers coming across the table.
"They tell us they respect us, they're involving us in many conversations but, again our union colleagues are telling us another story. I'm hopeful that after tomorrow's megastrike, the first time that secondary teachers and primary school teachers have come together, I hope we can get a resolution thereafter", he says.
Whetu Cormick says while National has offered support to teachers, but the teachers are aware the current Government is trying to fix a system that was battered and bruised under National.
