Taane Mete quits Okareka Dance

There’s changes afoot in one of the country’s leading Māori dance companies.
Taane Mete has resigned from Okareka Dance Company, which he formed in 2007 with co-artistic director Taiaroa Royal to fuse contemporary dance with indigenous Māori themes and other art forms.
He says personal journeys have moved them in different directions, and he wishes the company all the best.
Royal will become the sole artistic director.
Okareka has formed a new collaborative partnership with Sharu Delilkan from multi-disciplinary performance and arts administration group Sharu Loves Hats.
