Staff build bonds through haka

Auckland Maori performing arts group The Haka Experience is offering not only performances but workshops in haka, waiata and tikanga.
Director Tapeta Wehi will even write and teach organisations a haka based around their mission statement and core values, as he did with Auckland Council tourism and events arm ATEED over an eight week course.
"It started with basic pronunciation of reo kupu around Tamaki Makaurau, then I went into the haka, touched on that, and by the end of it I had some of there people in tears and wanting more. The ATEED boss told me they've tried all sorts over the years but this was one that really worked for them. They've gone on fishing trips and done staff teams but this brought his whole staff together," he says.
Mr Wehi says he’s guided by the teachings of his late parents, kapa haka mavens Bub and Nen Wehi, in how ensure the business aligns with Maori values.
