Ngāpuhi partners with Tamariki Ora

Te Rūnanga-a-Iwi o Ngāpuhi has formed a strategic partnersip with Oranga Tamariki, the Ministry for Children, to co-design and invest in programmes.
Rūnanga chief executive Lorraine Toki says it builds on work such as the launch of the new Taitokerau Youth Remand Service, Mahuru.
The partnership will aim to develop a joint strategy to improve social outcomes for Ngāpuhi tamariki and whānau over the next five years.
Oranga Tamariki will inform the rūnanga of its investment priorities in a way that enables a coordinated approach to contracting and investment.
It will also endeavour to ensure the term of all contracts with Ngāpuhi are for a minimum of three years, which should ensure more sustainable services and initiatives are developed rather than quick fix programmes.
