Māori Land Court judges appointed

Damian Stone and Terena Wara have been appointed judges of the Māori Land Court.

Judge Stone was managing partner at Wellington firm Kahui legal and has significant commercial, Māori Land Court and Waitangi Tribunal experience.

Judge Wara was a director at Rotorua-based Tū Pono Legal with both land court and tribunal experience.

Judge Patrick Savage, who has served on the bench since 1994, was reappointed as an Acting Judge of the Māori Land Court.

Māori Development Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta says the appointments will greatly strengthen the bench of the Māori Land Court.
