Fletcher juniors get career boost
A corporate development programme for young workers with a Māori and Pasifika focus has graduated its second intake of 16 future leaders.
Indigenous Growth chief executive Michael Moka, who facilitates Connect for Fletcher Building, says it's the only corporate development programme founded in Māori and Pacific values.
He says by harnessing culture and showing how to practically bring it to work, the programme builds confidence, motivation and skills in a relevant way.
Connect is based on evidence that feeling part of a community sets young people up for success in their careers.
Participants in the six-month programme are supported by a mentor from within the wider company, learn work and life skills such as budgeting, time management, and goal setting, and stay overnight at Te Puea Marae in Māngere.
