Pacific view for Māori Tourism
New Zealand Māori Tourism is teaming up with the South Pacific Tourism Organisation to run a major tourism showcase in Auckland next May.
The South Pacific Tourism Exchange will run just before the TRENZ show in Rotorua, allowing Māori and Pacific Island tourism operators to engage with travel wholesalers and agents from around the world.
Māori Tourism chief executive Pania Tyson-Nathan says the partnership will allow Māori and Pacific tourism businesses to learn from each other, network, and find opportunities to work together in the future.
She says visitors are seeking authentic cultural experiences, and Māori and Pacific Islands tourism are well placed to share their culture, stories, people, and places of significance.
The Tourism Exchange is seen as an opportunity to strengthen promotion of the region to international visitors and allows Pacific providers to piggy back on the booming New Zealand tourism market.
