Greens co-leader Marama Davidson wants Māori to share their stories and methods of being kaitiaki of their whenua and awa.

Ms Davidson money from the Sustainable Farming Fund can now be spent helping farmers share stories and knowledge about ways to change their practices.

It comes alongside other money which has been earmarked for things like reducing the impact of farming on waterways.

She says it’s a pilot, and it could be used in a variety of ways, such as consultancy, publications, travel costs, or funding workshops or hui.

"Many Māori in agriculture have long wanted to lead the way in sustainable agriculture and so I really want to encourage Māori in this sector to connect and share knowledge with the sector as well," Ms Davidson says.
