Iwi chairs feel Labour snub

The Iwi Chairs Forum is feeling the love from the Greens but not from Labour.
The forum met in Whanganui this week, but advisor Willie Te Aho says none of Labour’s Ministers showed up for the normal updates.
Crown Maori Relationships Minister Kelvin Davis is there this afternoon to consult on what Maori expect him to do in the new portfolio.
"Their manifesto clearly says they honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and so they certainly want to engage with the treaty partner so through Minister Shaw we have a totally different approach, a very engaging approach based on their portfolio," Mr Te Aho says.
He says Labour doesn’t want to engage with iwi leaders in a discussion on iwi rights and interests to resources like water.
