The sod has been turned on a 56-home development on Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust land in Petone.
The Paetutu project is being done jointly by developers The Wellington Company and not for profit community housing provider Te Tumu Kainga, which also drove the Waimahia development in south Auckland.
Most of the homes have been pre-sold to Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust members who were offered an option to purchase before Paetutu went on the general market.
The Wellington Company’s Ian Cassels says it shows the market is ready for medium density suburban living.
