Donna Awatere Huata, Mana Wahine Claims
Twenty five years after the claim was first lodged, the Waitangi Tribunal has held a judicial conference whether Maori women have been marginalised by crown policies and actions.
The Mana Wahine Claim was originally lodged by the late Dame Mira Szaszy, along with another former Maori Women's Welfare League President, Dame Whina Cooper, Lady Rose Henare, Dr Irihapeti Ramsden, and representing the younger generation, Donna Awatere, Ripeka Evans and Paparangi Reid.
Donna Awatere Huata was one of many wahine including Annette Sykes, Dr Leonie Pihama, Mereana Pitman Angeline Greensill and others who met in Wellington earlier this week to discuss furthering the claim as part of the Kaupapa Inquiry
