Huggies moves on bad baby name site

Multinational baby diaper maker Huggies has pulled an online list of Maori baby names after a complaint by a Maori digital activist.
Karaitiana Taiuru says the company acted after Waatea News ran a story on his year-long struggle to tell it the list included a number of names that were not Maori, or which were inappropriate to use because they referred to gods.
He has received an apology from Huggies, with the explanation his attempt to contact it through Twitter was unsuccesful because the Huggies account was not official.
Mr Taiuru says he has referred the company to the Maori language commission Te Taura Whiri and a translator who can help prepare a suitable list.
