Waikato Tainui teams up with ITOs

Waikato-Tainui has signed an agreement with 11 of the country's top Industry Training Organisations to work together to find career opportunities of its people.
Chief executive Donna Flavell says the tribe recognised it needed to be more innovative in the way it helped individual members with their aspirations.
The ITOs set national skill standards, lead qualifications development, and play a central role in industry-related vocational education and training.
She says Waikato-Tainui can help the ITOs be more effective in their services to Maori.
"We've got an awesome education and careers pathway team and we've got a number of people they have been working with who can easily work alongside many of the industry training organisations and feed them into that pipeline. Some of those students, they don't always want to go to university and this is a great opportunity to look at alternate ways to grow our people," Ms Flavell says.
