Tauranga most unaffordable city

The company which bought 1100 state houses in Tauranga says it wants to ease pressure on housing in the city by building more homes.
The annual Demographia international housing affordability survey has found Tauranga now outranks Auckland as New Zealand’s most unaffordable city.
Accessible Properties’s Tauranga manager Vicki McLaren says there is increasing pressure for emergency and social housing.
In the 10 months since buying the houses the company has added three more and has plans for a further 150.
She says it is working with local and central government, Iwi and social support organisations to end homelessness in the city.
