Planning vital in employment scheme

Employment Minister Willie Jackson says there won’t be work for the dole on his watch, but he does agree with Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones that targeted schemes are needed to address high Maori unemployment in some parts of the country.
Mr Jones’ call for job schemes has been called work or the dole, even though he has insisted every any such jobs should be minimum wage or above.
Mr Jackson says the New Zealand First MP has his own style.
"He knows we are not people who will support people working for the dole but I get his sentiment and it’s the same sentiment as me that we’ve got to get a lot of our young people active but we have to have well planned schemes and I’ve been getting those proposals now from our communities and we have to find a way of funding and resourcing them where the previous government did not resource them and did not fund them," he says.
