HineBoss shouting for success

Learning how to deal with success is one of the elements in a three-day wananga for women in business being run in Auckland this week by the Maori Women’s Development Incorporation.
Facilitator Moana Tamaariki-Pohe says as well as the normal business basics, HineBoss will cover what wahine may need to do to look after both their whanau and their bottom line.
She says attitudes can be a barrier for Maori, who may be told they should do things for aroha and not money.
"One of the examples we had is a very successful wahine Maori now doesn’t look forward to going home because as soon as she gets there it’s ‘it’s your shout, you’re the rich one.’ So having her look at what that really means for her and how to overcome those kind of things and deal with attitudes of others has meant that she can now be successful and ok to say yes to thriving in business and go home proud to have achieved that," Ms Tamaariki-Pohe says.
She says there is a ripple effect as wahine in business support their communities and other businesses.
