Tau attack discourteous
Tuhoronuku chair Hone Sadler says former treaty negotiations minister Christopher Finlayson's attack on Ngapuhi leader Sonny Tau are disingenuous and discourteous.
In parliament yesterday Mr Finlayson blamed Mr Tau, who is now Tuhoronuku's deputy chair, for the conflict and lack of progress in the Ngapuhi claim negotiation process.
Mr Sadler says as minister Mr Finlayson proved unwilling to work with the mandated body.
"We had appointed our negotiators and we had to stand them down because of the process we had to go through, so those comments came out of left field. They are disingenuous. As well as that I think they are discourteous," he says.
He's keen to sit down with new Treaty Negotiations Minister Andrew Little to discuss restarting talks, but there is no need to redo the mandate.
