Peters’ reveal shows theatrical mastery

That’s the verdict from one of the country’s most experienced actors on Winston Peters’ speech on who New Zealand First would go into coalition with.
Rawiri Paratene had a bit of an inside look at this election campaign, being the father of Green MP Marama Davidson.
He says he’s not a fan of the New Zealand First leader, despite playing him over the years in various sketch comedy programmes but he’s impressed at his energy and skill in negotiating a coalition – and at his masterful reveal.
"He was very theatrical. He knows how to hold the centre of the stage that man. The way he delivered his decision was superb. I could see it was going to go towards Labour through his speech but I still wasn’t sure and then when he finally did it I went yay," Paratene says.
