Te Ikaroa demands answers from Norway on oil spies

East coast indigenous rights group Te Ikaroa is concerned its campaigners could be under surveillance by the oil industry.
Greenpeace New Zealand is suing a private investigation firm it claims has been spying on it on behalf of Norwegian oil company Statoil and Anadarko Petroleum from the United States.
Te Ikaroa fears it has been caught in the net, and is asking the Norwegian government either confirm or deny they were aware if their campaigners were also being surveyed .
It says the oil industry continues to abuse the rights of Papatuanuku and Te Wainui, our great ocean and all life within it and shown complete disregard for the laws of nature.
Earlier this year Te Ikaroa delivered a petition to Norway with the voices of 80 hapu and iwi, and supported by over 24,000 New Zealanders, stating our clear, collective objection to Statoil’s activities along our coastline.
