Maori Television moves south
After more than a decade in Newmarket Maori Television staff are heading south for the new headquarters in East Tamaki.
Interim chief executive Keith Ikin says the new site will be more accessible to the Maori community.
The converted office building offers more space for the service's 160 staff, but the board is still considering options for building a studio.
"Whakaata Maori is focused on best supporting the needs of our community so is it better for example to consider a mobile option or a fully fixed studio option or something that serves both purposes? We want to make a good decision so we are supporting the future needs of Whakaata Maori, and that might include a mobile component to the studio," Mr Ikin says.
The first round of interviews have been held for a replacement for chief executive Paora Maxwell, and the preferred successor should be known within a month.
