Te Reo Maori has come a long way … but there's still a long way to go
Te Reo Maori advocate Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi says the language has come a long way in 30 years.
Dame Iritana is celebrating the achievements of Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori.
The Maori language commission turned 30 this week.
Dame Iritana says that while there have been some great programmes and passionate advocates, there's still a very long way togo.
IN: For all of us who are actually driving the reo and believe in it, there's thousands of our people who aren't. The big question right now is there's wonderful things happening but how can we make it even more wonderful for all of New Zealand," says Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi
