Andrew Little says Maori seats to stay

The Labour Party leader says the Maori seats will stay under a Labour Government.
Labour MP for Te Tai Tonga Rino Tirikatene currently has a members bill in Parliament to entrench the Maori seats.
Andrew Little says Maori are asked to support or not support the Maori seats every five years with the Maori Electoral Option so holding a referenda isn't necessary.
" There is effectively a referenda every five years on the Maori seats and where Maori get the choice of where to enrol on a Maori seat or on a general seat. Tens and hundreds of thousands of Maori enrol in those Maori seats, that's all you need to know, that decision has already been taken by Maori. We're saying as long as Maori want those seats then they'll remain and I'm committed to the Maori seats" says Andrew Little.
