Haumaha promoted to assistant commissioner

The head of the police Maori, Pacific and ethnic services, Superintendant Wally Haumaha, has been promoted to assistant commissioner status.
Police Commissioner Mike Bush says Mr Haumaha, who was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen’s Birthday honours list, will continue in his current role, including engaging with iwi and working in partnership with them to reduce and prevent Maori victimisation and offending.
Former Eastern district commander Superintendent Sandra Venable becomes assistant commissioner in charge of road policing, and Counties Manukau district commander Superintendent John Tims becomes the assistant commissioner districts.
