Fat fight taken to flax roots

Boxer Dave Letele has a plan to tackle obesity at community level.
He's taking the fitness boot camps from his Butterbean gyms in south and west Auckland to Nga Whare Waatea Marae in Mangere.
They're based on the Zoo system of bodyweight movement, so everyone gets a workout, no matter how big they are.
He says obesity among Polynesian and Maori people is bad, as can be seen any night at Middlemore Hospital.
The boot camps are backed by the Manukau Urban Maori Authority and Counties Manukau Sport.
"It's such a huge problem. The government has so much money to allocate to this but they don't know the solution. They don't know what to do and we are at the grass roots doing this and these are free bootcamps thanks to MUMA, free for all our people, our whanau, and we are changing lives, that's what it's about," Mr Letele says.
The Butterbean boot camps start at 6.30 am Mondays and Wednesdays at Nga Whare Waatea.
