The Maori Party is celebrating the passing of the plain packaging bill first put up by it's co-founder Dame Tariana Turia.
Parliament last night passed the Smoke-free Environments (Tobacco Plain Packaging) Amendment Bill, which had been delayed with the National-led Government waited on the outcome of overseas legal action challenging a similar Australian Bill.
Maori Party spokesperson Marama Fox says it means the tobacco industry will have to keep its killer product out of sight.
